MAGYAR KOMONDOR

The komondor is one of the most ancient Hungarian breeds. The first of these breeds might have come with the Magyar tribes who settled in the Carpathian basin more than thousand years ago. The main features of theirs outlook and behavior have hardly changed for more then 1000 years. The main characteristics - strong, big body, bravery - to be able to fight with big, wild animals (wolf, bear etc.) or even with men, - thick hair, to protect them against animals and the climate, - independence of mind (as the dog had to work with the flocks and other properties at night or without the presence of the owner), - modest in needs (like food etc.) endurance in bad conditions.
